Lesson 6
Share your simulation
In this lesson, students revisit variables as a way to add both variety and constraints to their simulations. They then use a classmate’s simulation program to formulate and test a prediction. Finally, students will engage in individual reflection on their learning before sharing their thoughts with a peer.

Standards
CSTA Standards
- 2-AP-11: Create clearly named variables that represent different data types and perform operations on their values.
- 3-DA-10: Evaluate the tradeoffs in how data elements are organized and where data is stored.
NGSS Standards
- MS-ETS1-1: Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions.
- MS-LS2-2: Construct an explanation that predicts patterns of interactions among organisms across multiple ecosystems.
- MS-LS2-3: Develop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem.
