Lesson 7
Sharing your work
In this final lesson, students will collect their planning and prototyping worksheets into one portfolio of work. They will then use a 3, 2, 1 protocol to share the development of their thinking with their peers. In a group of three, they will share the problem they defined and the solution they proposed; with one partner, they will share one piece of feedback they found helpful; individually, they will reflect on what advice they would give someone starting their first user-centered design project.

Standards
CSTA Standards
- 2-AP-19: Document programs in order to make them easier to follow, test, and debug.
- 2-CS-01: Recommend improvements to the design of computing devices, based on an analysis of how users interact with the devices.
- 2-IC-22: Collaborate with many contributors through strategies such as crowdsourcing or surveys when creating a computational artifact.
Common Core Standards
- ELA.RST.6-8.7: Integrate quantitative or technical information expressed in words in a text with a version of that information expressed visually (e.g., in a flowchart, diagram, model, graph, or table).
- ELA.SL.6.1: Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 6 topics, texts, and issues, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.
NGSS Standards
- MS-ETS1-1: Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions.
- MS-ETS1-4: Develop a model to generate data for iterative testing and modification of a proposed object, tool, or process such that an optimal design can be achieved.
