Unit 4.1

The me project

In this unit, students will explore the basics of Scratch, personalize sprites, and develop programs to create an animation that tells a story all about themselves! They will explore the basics of animation by creating storyboards that focus on sequencing and dialogue, and give and receive peer feedback throughout to help shape the development of their Scratch project.

Students are introduced to Scratch's Code and Costumes tags. They will modify a sprite's appearance using different paint tools.

Students explore the concept of decomposition and apply it to modifying their sprite.

Students are introduced to the concept of animation and use loops to create animations in Scratch.

Sequencing dialogue

Students learn how to predict and investigate Scratch blocks. Students will create animations with dialogue using looks and control blocks.

Storyboarding animations

Students learn to debug a program in Scratch and use a storyboard to plan their project.

Broadcasting

Students learn about broadcasting in Scratch and begin using broadcasting blocks.

Feedback

Students will give and receive feedback on Scratch projects.
