Lesson 5

Build it out

In this lesson, students are introduced to an artistic design cycle which they will use to guide their creative work. They start their artistic design cycle by inquiring about an emotion of their choosing. Students are then given a set of constraints for their art challenge. They develop a plan to represent their emotion through geometric transformations and the elements of art. They then develop a program from their plan to create their piece of abstract art. To conclude the lesson, students compare their experience planning their piece of art on paper to their experience creating their art through a program.
